Sweet Adeline
Composer: Richard H Gerard / Harry Armstrong

Part of the chorus of Sweet Adeline was performed the Black Mountain Boys in January 1964. The Black Mountain Boys performed in late 1963 and early 1964. Group members included Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter, Eric Thompson, Sandy Rothman and David Nelson.

Sweet Adeline was first published in 1903 and became popular after being performed in 1904 by The Quaker City Four. Before publication the song was probably called You're the Flower of My Heart, Sweet Rosalie. At some point before or during 1903 the title was changed and the song was published as You're the Flower of My Heart, Sweet Adeline. On the majority of recordings the title is shortened to Sweet Adeline.

Following the popularity of Sweet Adeline a number of other songs with "Sweet Adeline" in the title, It's Time To Sing Sweet Adeline Again for example, were published.
