Get Back

Get Back was performed once by the Grateful Dead in January 1987. The song has also been performed by Phil Lesh & Friends and Billy & The Kids.

The single (Get Back / Don't Let Me Down), produced by George Martin, was released in the UK in April 1969. In the US it was released on a single in May 1969. The single gives the performers as The Beatles with Billy Preston, giving Preston the distinction of being the only person to share credits with the Beatles on record.

The song was partly written in the studio in January 1969. The main part was recorded on January 27, 1969. This version, with a few additions, was released as the single. A number of versions of the album that became Let It Be were planned during 1969. The album, including Get Back, eventually appeared in a different format in 1970. Get Back was performed twice during the famous rooftop performance that appeared in the Let It Be film. The version of the song on the Anthology 3 collection is one of these live performances.
