Cucumber Slumber is an instrumental that was performed by the Garcia/Saunders band in 1974.

In an interview with Brian Glasser, Alphonso Johnson described the creation of the original Weather Report version of Cucumber Slumper;

We were recording in a studio in Connecticut, and I just came up with [the bassline]. All of a sudden, the drummer started playing, and it just took off from there. It was a total improvised jam.
