Terrapin

Joe Gallant and Illuminati

Initial release : October 1999

Which? Records 5656

A reinterpretation of the Grateful Dead's Terrapin Station album. Wonderful genre crossing, reconstructions make this much more than a remake of the original album. The Terrapin Suite sections are interspersed with short interludes by Gallant. The album is rounded off with a reinterpretation of China Doll and brief solo tribute from Gallant to Garcia entitled John Jerome.

Notes

Joe Gallant's liner notes include the following;

Arranging the Grateful Dead's 1977 Terrapin Station album for my ensemble Illuminati was a labor of love, an education and a complete pleasure.

My intention behind the reworking was to view the world of Terrapin through a lens set firmly in Midtown Manhattan on the eve of the Millennium.
