Palace Of Fine Arts Discography

This is a discography of albums recorded at the Palace Of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

The Palace of Fine Arts, at 3301 Lyon in San Francisco, was built for the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. The building was intended to exist for only a short time and was constructed from materials that were not long lasting. A proposal to rebuild the Palace with more permanent materials was made and when the expostion was dismantled the building was retained. The surrounding area became a city park. Only minor work was carried out however over the ensuing years and the building slowly disintegrated. At the start of the 1950's it was fenced off and remained unused for a number of years. Reconstruction work started in 1964 replacing the existing features with concrete castings to produce a "stripped down" version of the original building. The Palace reopened in 1967. The Theater was added in 1970.
