Jimbo's Bop City, San Francisco

Jimbo's Waffle Shop on Post Street in the Fillmore district was opened in 1950 by Jimbo Edwards. Through the 1950's a large room at the rear of the waffle shop was the most popular after-hours venue for jazz musicians to get together and play. Jimbo's closed in 1965. No recordings were made at Jimbo's but there is a documentary about the club Legend of Bop City which was directed by Carol Chamberland and released in 1998.
