Broken Angels

The Broken Angels, organised by David Gans, were an aggregation of musicians influenced by the Grateful Dead. The group first performed at a series of shows in Berkeley in 1996. Subsequently varying line-ups of the group appeared at various Bay Area venues.

Members of the Grateful Dead have performed with the group on a number of occasions. For example on December 7, 1997 the group performed a benefit at the Continental Ballroom in San Francisco Hilton, with the following personnel;

  • Bruce Hornsby - piano, vocals
  • Donna Jean (Godchaux) MacKay - vocals
  • Gary Lambert - guitar, vocals

  • Clayton Call - drums
On January 31, 1998 the group performed at the Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco with the line-up;
