Bobby Hi-Test and the Octane Kids

Bruce Hornsby played Fender Rhodes and sang in a group called Bobby Hi-Test and the Octane Kids in the mid-1970's.

The group was formed in 1974 by Hornsby's brother Bobby at the University of Virginia. The group played lots of covers of Grateful Dead songs plus song by the Allman Brothers and the Band.

Other members of the group were Peter Fritchman (Drums), Bobby Hornsby (Bass), Brian Bostwick (Drums), Ann Skinner (Vocals, Percussion), John Friant (Guitar), and Bobby Bryant (Guitar).
