Berkeley String Quartet

The Berkeley String Quartet were an acoustic group who performed in the coffeehouse of the Bay Area in the 1964 to 1965 period. The line-up of the group was Carl Shrager, Bob Cooper, Joe McDonald, and Bill Steele. Toby Lightheiser probably sometimes sat in for Bill Steele on bass.

The group played a wide range of traditional, contemporary folk, popular and humorous songs on a wide range of instruments including guitar, banjo, bass, harmonica, kazoo, autoharp, washboards, stovepipes and salad spoons.

There are no recordings of the Berkeley String Quartet.
